Pearls and Powerful Women: Never Ending Love Story

It is a relationship since old ages of history. A deep bond.  It’s like these women derive their power from the pearls.
One of the well known and oldest stories about pearls is about Cleopatra and her bet with Marc Anthony. There have been two pearls that were the largest in the whole of history; both were owned by Cleopatra, the last of the Queens of Egypt. The Roman General Marc Anthony was seduced by Queen Cleopatra and she wagered that she could offer him the most expensive dinner in the world. During dinnertime, she took one earring off and dropped the pearl in a vessel containing vinegar in front of her, and when it was melted, she swallowed it. Cleopatra won the wager after drinking a cocktail made with a dissolved pearl.
Another powerful woman that had her pearls on in almost every occasion, Jacqueline Kennedy. She was the wife of the 35^th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and First Lady of the United States during his presidency in the 1960s. For the final two decades of her life, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had a career as a book editor.
We all know Audrey Hepburn, British actress, humanitarian and another fan of pearls. She was recognized as a film and fashion icon.

If you take a few minutes to review Forbes Magazine list of 100 most powerful women in the world, you are going to find something very amazing. Most of these powerful women are often seen in public wearing pearls.
Browsing through the article and their attached photo gallery, it was revealed that 9 of the top 10 most powerful women in the world consider pearls to be an important part of their wardrobe. Among them we can find Angela Merkel (Chancellor of Germany), Hillary Clinton (USA Secretary of State), Michelle Obama (First Lady USA), Dilma Rousseff (President of Brazil) , and many others. While these women are often considered tough negotiators and intimidate most men and women, they still choose pearls to show their appreciation for natural beauty and the softer side of being a woman.

Pearls have been a sign of wealth and power for centuries making them ideal for women in leadership roles even if they are only leading their own household. Pearls bring out beauty and personality without overshadowing the message of who you are.
